Production process
Sand casting process uses the green sand or dry sand to make the molds for casting molten metals. Most of castings are produced by this old but new casting process. Sand casting is one of the most popular and simplest types of casting. Sand casting allows for smaller batches than permanent mold casting and at a very reasonable cost.

FAQ
1. What is a Casting Fencing Spearhead?
A Casting Fencing Spearhead, also known as a Fence Finial, Spear Point, or Pike, is a decorative and functional cast metal ornament installed on top of fence posts (especially wrought iron, aluminum, or vinyl fence systems). It serves both an aesthetic purpose, adding a classic, elegant, or security-focused finish, and a practical purpose, discouraging climbing and protecting the post from water ingress.
2. What types of spearheads do you manufacture?
We produce a wide variety of styles to suit different fence designs:
Classic Spear Points: Traditional, sharp-pointed designs.
Decorative/Ornate Finials: With scrolls, leaves, balls, or other intricate patterns.
Flat-Top & Ball-Top Finials: For a less aggressive, more modern look.
Security Spearheads: Extra-long and sharp for enhanced perimeter security.
Custom Designs: To match specific architectural or brand themes.
3. What materials are used for casting?
We use durable, weather-resistant casting materials:
Cast Iron (Gray Iron/Ductile Iron): Traditional, very strong, and heavy. Often coated for rust prevention.
Cast Aluminum (A356/AlSi7Mg): Lightweight, excellent corrosion resistance, and can achieve fine detail. Most popular for modern applications.
Cast Steel (Mild Steel): For high-strength requirements.
Zinc Alloy (Zamak): For highly detailed, cost-effective pieces, often used as a base for plating.
All materials are suitable for outdoor use with proper finishing.
4. What finishes and colors are available?
We offer a range of finishes for protection and aesthetics:
Powder Coating: Most common. Available in standard colors (Black, White, Bronze, Dark Green) and custom RAL colors.
Galvanizing (for Cast Iron/Steel): Hot-Dip Galvanized (HDG) for maximum rust protection.
Antique Finishes: Painted and distressed for a vintage "wrought iron" look.
Metallic Plating: Brass, Copper, or Chrome plating over a zinc alloy base for a luxurious appearance.
Natural Finish: Clear coat over aluminum or raw iron for an industrial look.
5. How is the spearhead attached to the fence post?
Installation is simple and typically uses one of two methods:
Threaded Stud (Most Common): The spearhead has a threaded rod (e.g., 1/2"-13 thread) cast as part of it. It screws directly into a pre-tapped hole in the top of a metal post or into a threaded insert in a wood/vinyl post.
Socket Fit: The spearhead has a hollow socket base that slides over the top of the post and is secured with a set screw or adhesive.
6. What are the standard sizes?
Our spearheads come in various heights and base dimensions:
Height: Typically from 3 inches (75mm) to 12 inches (300mm) or larger for grand entrances.
Base Diameter/Width: Must match the top dimensions of your fence post (e.g., for a 2"x2" post, a base slightly larger than 2" is needed).
Custom sizes are available for OEM projects.
7. Are they suitable for all types of fences?
They are primarily designed for:
Wrought Iron & Aluminum Fences: Most common application.
Vinyl Fences: Can be used with an adapter or post designed to accept metal finials.
Wood Fences: Can be installed with a threaded insert or mounting block.
Gate Posts & Stone/Walls: For decorative capstones.
8. Can you create custom designs based on our logo or sketch?
Yes. Custom casting is our specialty. We can:
Create a new mold from your sketch, photo, or CAD file.
Incorporate company logos, monograms, or specific patterns.
Adjust size, proportions, and mounting style to your exact needs.
Provide private label and packaging services.
9. What is your MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity)?
Standard Designs from Existing Molds: MOQ 200 pieces.
Custom Designs (New Mold Required): MOQ 500 pieces (negotiable based on design complexity).
Samples: Available for quality and finish approval.
10. What is your production lead time?
Samples from Existing Molds: 10-15 working days.
Standard Order Production: 20-30 working days.
Custom Order (including mold making): 40-50 working days after final design approval.
11. How do you ensure quality in the casting?
Our foundry process includes strict quality controls:
Mold Precision: High-quality sand casting or permanent mold processes for detail.
Material Integrity: Spectrometer checks on molten metal.
Dimensional Inspection: Checking critical dimensions against the master model.
Finishing Inspection: Surface smoothness, coating thickness, and color consistency checks.
12. Are the spearheads sharp?
We can produce them to your specification:
Sharp Points: For traditional or security-focused applications.
Blunt/Rounded Tips: For public areas, schools, or pools where safety is a priority to meet local codes (e.g., pool fence regulations).
Please specify your requirement.
