1. What is a Stainless Steel U-Shaped Pipe Clamp?
A Stainless Steel U-Shaped Pipe Clamp (commonly called a U-Bolt) is a two-legged, U-shaped fastener with threaded ends. It is designed to secure pipes, tubes, conduits, or cylindrical objects to a supporting surface (beams, walls, structures). The U-shape provides excellent 180° grip, and the stainless steel construction offers superior corrosion resistance for demanding environments.

2. What are the main applications?
These clamps are essential across numerous industries due to their strength and corrosion resistance:

Marine & Offshore: Securing piping, rails, and equipment on ships, docks, and platforms.

Food & Beverage Processing: Hygienic, corrosion-resistant clamping for sanitary lines.

3. What grades of stainless steel do you offer?
We primarily use two marine-grade stainless steels:

AISI 304 (A2/18-8): General-purpose grade. Excellent corrosion resistance for most indoor, atmospheric, and mild chemical environments. Most common and cost-effective.

AISI 316 (A4): Marine/Molybdenum Grade. Contains molybdenum for superior resistance to chlorides (saltwater) and acids. Highly recommended for marine, coastal, chemical processing, and high-humidity applications.

Other Grades: 316L, 321, or Duplex stainless steels available for specialized projects upon request.

4. How do I specify the correct clamp size?
You need five key dimensions for an accurate specification:

Inside Diameter (A) / Bend Radius: The inside arc measurement. Must be slightly larger than the pipe's Outer Diameter (OD).

Inside Width (B): Distance between the inside of the two legs.

Leg Length (L): Length of the threaded portion from the bend to the thread end.

Thread Specifications: Diameter and pitch (e.g., M10 x 1.5, 3/8"-16 UNC).

Material & Finish: e.g., 316 Stainless, Plain (self-color).
Providing a simple sketch with these dimensions ensures a perfect match.

5. What threading standards are available?
We manufacture to global standards:

Metric Threads: Standard coarse pitch (e.g., M6, M8, M10, M12, M16, M20).

Unified (Imperial) Threads: UNC (Unified National Coarse) is standard (e.g., 1/4"-20, 3/8"-16, 1/2"-13). UNF (Fine) available.

Custom Threads: Left-hand or special pitches can be produced for OEM orders.

6. What is the load/tensile strength?
Our U-bolts are made from high-strength stainless steel:

304 Stainless: Minimum tensile strength ≥ 500 MPa (≈ 72,500 psi).

316 Stainless: Minimum tensile strength ≥ 500 MPa (≈ 72,500 psi).
Actual clamping force depends on proper installation with washers, nuts, and a backing plate. We can provide technical data on proof load. Always use a backing plate under the U-bolt legs for structural applications to distribute load.

7. Do you supply complete kits with nuts and washers?
Yes. We typically supply as a complete assembly kit, which includes:

One U-Bolt.

Two Hex Nuts (Stainless Steel A2-70 or A4-80).

Two Flat Washers (Stainless Steel).

Optional: Backing Plates/Channel Nuts can be included upon request for structural mounting.

8. What surface finishes are available?
Stainless steel U-bolts are typically supplied in a natural mill finish (self-color/silver), which provides excellent corrosion resistance. We also offer:

Passivated Finish: Chemical treatment to enhance the natural protective oxide layer, maximizing corrosion resistance. Standard for 316 grade.

Electropolished: Creates a smooth, mirror-like, ultra-clean surface. Ideal for sanitary, food-grade, and high-purity applications where cleanliness and minimal adhesion are critical.

Other: Brushed or polished finishes for aesthetics.

9. How are they installed?
Proper installation is key:

Place the U-bolt around the pipe/conduit.

Position it over the mounting hole in the supporting structure.

Place washers and thread the nuts onto the legs from the opposite side.

Tighten the nuts evenly and alternately to the recommended torque. Avoid over-tightening, which can distort the U-bolt or damage the pipe.

10. Can you customize U-bolts (OEM)?
