1. What is a Precast Forged Lifting Eye Anchor?
A Precast Forged Lifting Eye Anchor is a high-strength, forged steel component embedded into precast concrete elements during manufacturing. Its primary functions are to provide a secure lifting point for handling, tilting, transporting, and erecting the element, and to serve as an embedded anchor point for future connections or attachments.
2. What are the key applications in precast construction?
This anchor is critical for the safety and efficiency of precast operations:
Lifting & Handling: Main lifting point for walls, beams, columns, double-tees, hollow-core slabs, and other large precast elements.
Tilt-Up Construction: As a primary anchor for tilting wall panels.
Temporary Erection Bracing: Attachment point for guy wires or braces during erection.
Permanent Embedded Connections: For attaching other structural elements or facade systems.
3. What types of forged lifting anchors do you offer?
We produce a comprehensive range to meet various design loads and configurations:
Standard Forged Eye Bolt: With a circular or teardrop-shaped eye.
Plate Anchors with Forged Eye / Loop: A forged eye welded or integrally forged onto a base plate.
Custom Bent Anchors: With specific bend angles and leg lengths.
High-Strength Threaded Inserts: For applications requiring a removable lifting eye (threaded rod + eye nut).
Specialty Anchors for specific systems (e.g., hollow-core slabs, insulated wall panels).
4. What materials and forging process are used?
Material: High-Tensile Alloy Steel, typically A36/SAE 1045 Carbon Steel, A572 Grade 50, or 4140 Alloy Steel. Stainless Steel (304/316) is available for corrosive environments.
Process: Hot Die Forging. The steel is heated and formed under extreme pressure in precision dies. This creates a continuous grain flow that follows the shape of the anchor, resulting in superior toughness, strength, and fatigue resistance compared to cast or cut products.
Finish: Self-color (mill finish) is standard. Hot-Dip Galvanizing (HDG) or Mechanically Galvanized finishes are available for corrosion protection.
5. How do I determine the correct size and capacity?
Anchor selection is a critical structural calculation based on:
Weight of the Precast Element: The total dead load.
Dynamic Lifting Factors: Impact forces during lifting (typically 1.5x to 2.0x static load).
Concrete Strength at Time of Lift.
Angle of Lift: The load on the anchor increases as the lifting sling angle deviates from vertical.
We provide detailed technical data sheets with Minimum Breaking Load (MBL) and Safe Working Load (SWL) ratings for each anchor. Consultation with a structural engineer is essential. We can assist based on your element design.
6. What is the Working Load Limit (WLL) and safety factor?
Safe Working Load (SWL/WLL): The maximum load the anchor is certified to safely hold under normal conditions.
Minimum Breaking Load (MBL): The load at which the anchor will physically fail. Typically 4 to 5 times the SWL for lifting applications (Safety Factor of 4:1 or 5:1).
Design Must Consider Concrete Failure: The concrete breakout strength often governs the design, not just the anchor's steel strength. We can provide guidance on required edge distances and embedment depth.
7. How is the anchor installed in the precast element?
It is installed in the formwork before the concrete pour:
Positioning: The anchor is accurately positioned per shop drawings and securely tied or welded to the reinforcement cage. This is critical to prevent movement during concrete placement.
Embedment: The entire shank (straight leg) is cast into the concrete. The eye or loop protrudes or is accessible in a recess.
Pour & Cure: Concrete is placed and cured with the anchor as an integral part of the element.
8. What information do I need to provide for a quotation?
For an accurate and meaningful quote, please provide:
Detailed shop drawing of the precast element showing anchor location and intended use.
Design loads (tension, shear, angle of lift).
Anchor type/sketch or sample photo.
Material and finish requirements.
Project quantity estimate.
9. Can you customize anchors for our specific project (OEM)?
Absolutely. Custom engineering and OEM supply are our core strengths. We can:
Produce anchors to your exact drawings and specifications (leg length, bend radius, eye size, plate dimensions).
Forge anchors in special steel grades or with unique geometries.
Provide full prototyping and testing support.
Offer private labeling and project-specific packaging.
10. What is your MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity)?
Standard Catalog Anchors: MOQ 500 pieces.
Custom Designed/OEM Anchors: MOQ 1,000 pieces (due to die/tooling setup).
Large Project Supply: MOQ negotiable for tender projects.
Quality First, Price Best, Service Foremost!
