Its "horned" design provides a secure point to wrap and tie off lines. Plastic cleats offer lightweight, corrosion-proof, and cost-effective alternatives to metal, ideal for smaller vessels and freshwater use.
2. What types of plastic cleats do you manufacture?

3. What plastic materials are used?
We engineer with marine-grade, UV-stabilized plastics for durability:
Nylon (PA6/PA66): Most common. Offers excellent strength, impact resistance, and UV stability. Often glass-fiber reinforced for added rigidity.
Polyethylene (HDPE/UHMW-PE): Superior chemical resistance, very low moisture absorption, and excellent toughness.
Acetal : High stiffness, low friction, and good fatigue resistance.
All materials are UV-inhibited to prevent degradation from sun exposure and available in various colors.
4. What is the load capacity (working load limit)?
Load capacity varies significantly by size, design, and material:
Small Cleats (for kayaks/PWCs): 100 - 500 kg (220 - 1100 lbs) breaking strength.
Medium Cleats (for small boats): 500 - 1500 kg (1100 - 3300 lbs) breaking strength.
Large Cleats (for docks/light mooring): 1500 - 3000+ kg (3300 - 6600+ lbs) breaking strength.
Plastic cleats are generally for light to moderate duty. For heavy mooring or large vessels, we recommend our stainless steel cleats.
5. Are plastic cleats suitable for saltwater use?
Yes, but material selection and quality are critical.
Our marine-grade nylon and HDPE are highly resistant to saltwater corrosion.
They contain UV stabilizers to combat sunlight degradation, which is accelerated in marine environments.
For permanent saltwater exposure (docks), ensure the cleat is rated for the load and environment. Inspect regularly for UV wear.
6. How are they mounted?
Installation is simple but must be done correctly:
Drill mounting holes in the deck/hull according to the cleat's hole pattern.
Apply a marine-grade sealant (e.g., silicone, polyurethane) to the base and holes to prevent water ingress.
Secure from underneath with stainless steel bolts, washers, and lock nuts. A backing plate is highly recommended for distributing load on fiberglass or thin decks.
