1. What is a Stainless Steel Cable Thimble for Pipes/Tubes?
This is a specialized wire rope thimble designed to be spliced or clamped around a pipe, tube, or cylindrical object rather than forming a loop in a rope itself. It protects the wire rope from wear and deformation where it passes over or around a pipe, acting as a durable, low-friction bearing surface. It is commonly used in rigging, lifting, marine, and architectural applications where a rope or cable needs to turn over a fixed cylindrical point.

Marine & Dock Systems: As a fairlead over pipes on davits, winches, or railings.

3. What materials are used?
We use corrosion-resistant stainless steel suitable for harsh environments:

AISI 304 (A2): General-purpose, excellent corrosion resistance for most applications.

4. How do I select the correct size?
You must match two critical dimensions:

Rope Diameter: The groove of the thimble must fit your wire rope's outer diameter (O.D.) snugly.

Pipe/Tube Outer Diameter (O.D.): The inside curvature (seat) of the thimble must match or be slightly larger than the O.D. of the pipe or tube it will be placed on.
Please provide both your wire rope size and the pipe O.D. for accurate sizing.

5. How is it installed?
Installation methods vary:

Spliced Installation: The wire rope is spliced directly around the thimble and the pipe, creating a permanent, high-strength connection.

Clamped/U-Bolt Installation: Using wire rope clips (U-bolts), the rope is clamped around the thimble which is seated on the pipe. This is a common, reusable method.

While designed for wire rope, it can be used with high-strength synthetic ropes to protect them from abrasion over a pipe. Ensure the rope's diameter fits the groove properly.
