Gray Cast Iron (Flake Graphite Iron): For less demanding applications or specific legacy systems.

Special Additives: For plates requiring enhanced wear resistance or specific hardness.

5. What is the difference between Insulated and Non-Insulated plates?
Non-Insulated Plate: Made of solid ductile iron. Conducts electricity. Used in non-electrified tracks or where electrical continuity is required.

Insulated Plate: Features an insulating layer or insert (typically made of glass-reinforced nylon, polyamide, or special composite) bonded to or integrated with the iron casting. This breaks the electrical circuit between the rail and the sleeper/fastener assembly. Critical for track circuit signaling and safety.
