Q: Can I use an "A" series chain with a "B" series sprocket?
A: No. "A" series (American/Japanese standard) and "B" series (European standard) chains have different dimensions regarding roller diameter, pin diameter, and plate width. Even if the pitch looks the same, they are not interchangeable. You must match the chain standard to the corresponding sprocket standard .
Q: How do I choose the right center distance for my chain drive?
A: The center distance is the distance between the two sprocket shafts.
Too short (e.g., less than 30 times the pitch): Increases the angle of articulation, accelerating wear and increasing the risk of tooth skipping.
Too long (e.g., more than 80 times the pitch): Causes excessive chain sag and vibration ("whipping").
