1.A padeye is a device often found on boats that a line runs through, or provides an attachment point.
2.It is a kind of fairlead and often is bolted or welded to the deck or hull of a boat.
3.Pad eyes are eyelets, rings, or loops that attach to machinery or equipment.
4.They can be used for tie-down, lashing or securing applications, but are not usually rated for
overhead lifting.
5.Examples include pad eyes, pad eye diamond investment cast polished, pad eye diamond
stamped welded, pad eye oblong investment cast polished, pad eye oblong stamped welded, pad
eye round with threaded stud, pad eye round, pad eye square stamped welded, pad eye with ring
stamped welded welding ring pad eyes, folding pad eyes, eye straps, and anchor plates.
6.Welding ring pad eyes have a diamond, square, oblong, round or saddle-shaped base that
maximizes load distribution.

FAQ
1. What is a Stainless Steel Eye Plate?
A Stainless Steel Eye Plate, commonly called a Lifting Eye or Pad Eye, is a forged or fabricated stainless steel fitting featuring an integrated mounting base (plate) with a circular "eye" or loop. It is designed to be permanently welded or bolted to structures, equipment, or vessels to provide a secure, corrosion-resistant point for lifting, pulling, rigging, or anchoring cables, chains, or shackles.
2. What are the primary applications?
Eye plates are critical for load handling and securing across industries:
Marine & Shipbuilding: Deck fittings, lifeline attachments, equipment securing.
Construction & Rigging: Permanent lifting points on steel structures, precast concrete, and scaffolding.
Industrial Machinery: Lifting eyes on tanks, reactors, generators, and heavy equipment.
Stage & Rigging: For theatrical and event rigging.
Transportation: Securing cargo in trucks, railcars, and containers.
Architecture & Facades: For tensioning systems and maintenance access.
3. What grades of stainless steel do you offer?
We offer the two most common marine and industrial grades:
AISI 304 (1.4301 / A2): General-purpose stainless steel. Excellent corrosion resistance for most atmospheric and mild chemical environments. Most common and cost-effective.
AISI 316 (1.4401 / A4 Marine Grade): Superior corrosion resistance, especially against chlorides (saltwater) and acids. The premium choice for marine, offshore, coastal, and chemical processing applications.
Other grades (316L, Duplex) are available upon request.
4. How is the Working Load Limit (WLL) determined?
The WLL is the maximum recommended load in direct, in-line tension. It is calculated based on:
Material Strength: The grade of stainless steel (304 or 316).
Critical Dimensions: The diameter of the eye at its thinnest cross-section and the weld/plate thickness.
Safety Factor: A standard safety factor (typically 4:1 or 5:1) is applied to the material's yield strength.
We provide certified WLL tables for each of our standard eye plate models. The WLL is marketed on the product. Always rig within the WLL and at the correct angle.
5. What are the standard types and configurations?
We manufacture several designs:
Standard Flat Eye Plate: A flat plate with a single forged eye.
Swivel Eye Plate: The eye rotates 360° on a shoulder bolt, allowing the load to align without twisting the rigging.
Heavy-Duty / Forged Eye Plates: For higher load capacities.
Custom Designs: With multiple eyes, specific hole patterns, or reinforced bases.
6. How is the eye plate mounted?
Two primary methods:
Welding (Most Common & Strongest): The base plate is fillet welded all around its perimeter to the parent structure. The structure must be capable of handling the transferred load. We supply plates with beveled edges for full-penetration welds if required.
Bolting: The plate is drilled with multiple holes and secured using high-tensile bolts. Requires proper load distribution calculations.
7. What is the difference between a pad eye and a lifting eye?
The terms are often used interchangeably. Technically:
Pad Eye: Typically refers to a plate with an integrated loop, often used for securing or lashing (e.g., on ship decks).
Lifting Eye: Often implies a design specifically rated and certified for overhead lifting.
All our eye plates intended for lifting are clearly marked with their WLL and designed to relevant guidelines.
8. Can you provide load ratings for angled pulls?
Yes, and this is critical. The rated WLL applies ONLY to a direct, in-line pull.
Angled Loads: Any side load or angular pull dramatically reduces the safe working capacity and can cause failure.
Consultation Required: For non-vertical lifts, engineering review is essential. We can provide guidance on derating factors based on angle.
9. How do I request a quote or technical specifications?
For an accurate and safe recommendation, please provide:
Required Working Load Limit (WLL).
Intended application and environment (to determine 304 vs 316).
Mounting method (weld or bolt) and any dimensional constraints.
Quantity needed.
10. What is your MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity)?
Standard Catalog Items: MOQ 100 pieces per type/size.
Custom Designed/Fabricated Eyes: MOQ 50 pieces (higher due to setup).
Large Project/OEM: MOQ negotiable.
11. What is your production lead time?
Samples / Stock Items: 10-15 working days.
Standard Production: 20-30 working days.
Custom Fabrication: 30-45 working days after drawing approval.
12. Can you customize eye plates (OEM)?
Absolutely. We specialize in custom fabrication and OEM supply:
Custom dimensions (eye diameter, plate size, thickness).
Special hole patterns on the base plate.
Unique grades or finishes.
Full machining, drilling, and finishing.
Private labeling.
