Q1: What materials do you typically use for your crankshafts?
A: We primarily use high-quality alloy steels like 42CrMo4 (DIN), SAE 4340 (AISI), and EN19. For specific high-volume or cost-sensitive applications, we also produce high-strength ductile iron (e.g., GGG-70) crankshafts. Material choice depends on the engine's performance requirements, and we provide full material certification.
Q2: What is the difference between forged and cast crankshafts from your factory?
A: Forged Crankshafts: Made from solid alloy steel billets under extreme pressure. They have superior grain flow, higher strength, and better fatigue resistance, making them ideal for high-performance, turbocharged, or heavy-duty applications.
Cast Crankshafts: Made from melted ductile iron poured into molds. They offer an excellent strength-to-weight ratio and cost-effectiveness for high-volume passenger car engines. Both processes in our factory utilize advanced technology and strict quality control.
Q3: What heat treatment processes do you apply?
A: Our standard process includes induction hardening on all journal surfaces (main and pin) to achieve a hard, wear-resistant surface (HRC 55-60) with a tough core. This is followed by tempering to relieve stresses. We also offer nitriding and case hardening for special applications requiring extreme wear resistance or fatigue strength.
Q4: What balancing standards do you meet?
A: Our standard balancing grade is G6.3 per ISO 1940-1, which is suitable for most automotive applications. For high-performance and racing engines, we offer G2.5 or better balancing upon request. Each crankshaft is individually balanced on computerized machines, and a balancing report can be provided.
Q5: Can you manufacture crankshafts based on our samples or drawings?
A: Yes, absolutely. We specialize in OEM manufacturing and reverse engineering. You can send us a sample, OEM part number, or detailed CAD drawings. Our engineering team will analyze it and provide a manufacturing proposal, including material recommendation and process flow.
Q6: What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?
A: For standard aftermarket replacement parts, our MOQ can be as low as 50-100 pieces. For custom/OEM projects, the MOQ is negotiable based on design complexity and tooling investment. We are flexible to support both large-volume and trial orders.
Q7: What is your lead time?
A: For existing molds/designs, lead time is 30-45 days after order confirmation and deposit. For new designs requiring tooling, lead time is 60-90 days for sample approval, plus production time. We maintain safety stock for some popular models.
Q8: How do you pack crankshafts for export?
A: Each crankshaft is individually wrapped in anti-rust paper or plastic, then placed in a custom-sized cardboard box with foam end caps for protection. Boxes are then packed securely in strong export cartons or wooden crates for container loading. We optimize packaging to prevent damage during transit.
Q9: What are your payment terms?
A: Standard terms are 30% T/T deposit with order confirmation, and 70% balance against copy of Bill of Lading. For long-term partners or large orders, we can discuss more flexible terms. L/C at sight is also acceptable.
Q10: Can you supply a full engine component kit?
A: While we specialize in crankshafts, we have reliable partner factories and can help source or assemble a full rotating assembly kit, including connecting rods, pistons, bearings, and timing components. Please inquire about your specific kit requirements.
