Q1: What file formats do you accept for laser cutting?
A: We prefer vector-based formats for cutting: DXF, DWG, AI, EPS. We also accept 3D files (STEP, IGS, SLDPRT) for reference. Please ensure files are clean with no overlapping lines and proper scale (1:1). We provide free file optimization if needed.
Q2: What are your standard tolerances for laser cutting?
A: Our standard cutting tolerances are:
For parts ≤ 3mm thickness: ±0.05mm to ±0.1mm
For parts 3-10mm thickness: ±0.1mm to ±0.2mm
For parts >10mm thickness: ±0.2mm to ±0.3mm
Tighter tolerances (±0.03mm) are achievable for critical dimensions with additional setup and cost.
Q3: What is the smallest feature you can cut?
A: The minimum hole diameter we can cut is typically equal to the material thickness (e.g., 1mm hole in 1mm thick material). For slots and narrow gaps, the minimum width is 0.8-1.0 times material thickness. For intricate details, we recommend consulting our engineers.
Q4: Can you cut pre-finished materials (powder coated, anodized, etc.)?
A: Yes, with considerations. Laser cutting pre-finished materials may cause discoloration or edge burn marks on the finished side. We recommend cutting from the back side when possible or accepting slight discoloration at edges. We can provide samples to show the expected result.
Q5: Do you offer laser engraving or marking?
A: Yes. Our fiber lasers can perform deep engraving, surface marking, and serial numbering. We can etch logos, barcodes, QR codes, and text with high precision. This service can be combined with cutting in one operation.
Q6: Can you provide deburring or edge finishing services?
A: Yes. Standard laser-cut parts have minimal burr. For applications requiring perfectly smooth edges, we offer vibratory deburring, edge sanding/grinding, or tumbling. This is a secondary operation with additional cost and lead time.
Q7: What is your typical lead time?
A: Lead times vary:
Prototypes/Samples: 3-7 working days after drawing approval.
Small Batch Production (≤ 500 pcs): 7-14 working days.
Large Production Runs: 2-4 weeks, depending on volume and complexity.
Expedited service is available at an additional cost.
Q8: How do you ensure quality and part accuracy?
A: We employ a three-stage quality check:
First-Article Inspection (FAI): Full CMM inspection of the first parts.
In-Process Check: Monitoring of machine parameters and visual checks.
Final Inspection: Dimensional spot checks and visual quality audit per AQL standards. We provide inspection reports upon request.
Q9: Can you work with our provided material?
A: Yes, we accept Customer-Supplied Material (CSM). We will need material certification and a waiver for material-related defects. Our quotation will then cover only the processing, labor, and consumables cost.
