Its distinctive "Y" shaped body houses a screen basket. The flanged ends allow for robust bolted connection to piping systems. It protects sensitive equipment (pumps, valves, meters, nozzles) downstream from damage and clogging.

3. What stainless steel grades do you use for casting?

ASTM A351 CF8M (Equivalent to AISI 316): Superior corrosion resistance, especially against chlorides and acids. Standard for marine, chemical, and food-grade applications.

ASTM A351 CF3/CF3M (304L/316L): Low carbon grades to prevent carbide precipitation during welding, ideal for as-welded construction.

Special Alloys: Duplex (2205), Alloy 20, Hastelloy available upon request.

4. What pressure ratings and flange standards do you offer?
Pressure Classes: PN10, PN16, PN25, PN40 (Metric) and 150#, 300# (ANSI/ASME).

Flange Standards: DIN, EN, ANSI/ASME B16.5, JIS, BS, GOST. Flanges are integrally cast to the body for maximum strength.

Design Standards: Manufactured per ISO 5208, API 598, ASME B16.34.
The pressure rating must be selected based on your system's maximum working pressure and temperature.

5. How do I select the correct mesh/screen size?
The screen (basket) is selected based on the size of particles you need to remove:

Perforated Screen: Hole sizes typically from 1.0mm to 6.0mm.

Wire Mesh Screen: Finer filtration, measured in "mesh" (holes per inch) or microns (μm). Common meshes: 20 mesh (841μm), 40 mesh (420μm), 100 mesh (149μm).

Material: Screens are made from 304 or 316 stainless steel wire cloth or perforated sheet.
The choice depends on the required level of protection for downstream equipment.

6. How is the strainer cleaned/maintained?
A key advantage of the Y-design is easy maintenance without disconnecting the pipeline:

Isolate the strainer by closing upstream/downstream valves.

Depressurize the strainer body via the drain plug (if equipped).

Remove the cover (end cap) using the hex bolts.

Remove, clean, and re-insert the screen basket.

Replace the gasket, reassemble, and re-tighten bolts to specification.
Regular cleaning frequency depends on the debris load.

7. What types of connections do you offer besides flanged?
While flanged is most common for industrial applications, we also produce:

Threaded (NPT, BSP) Y-Strainers: For smaller line sizes (typically 1/2" to 2").

Socket Weld Ends: For high-integrity, leak-free welded connections.
